TAMARA SOLDAN
A versatile jazz singer, she began her studies by playing violin while singing in a choir.
In 1995, she began her foray into jazz under the tutelage of the singer Maria Laura Scomparcini, Danila Satragno and the pianist Bruno Cesselli.
She has taken part in numerous master classes and worked with: Rachel Gould, Sheila Jordan, Marc Murphy, Carl Anderson, Ines Raiger, Barry Harris, Shauwn Monteiro, Dave Shnitter, Michele Hendrics, Norma Winstone, Barbara Casini, Pete Churchill, Bob Stoloff, Jay Clayton, Carla Marcotulli, Mario Raja, Kate Baker, and John Taylor.
Crucial to her development was her meeting with Norma Winstone and Diana Torto, of whom she was a student during her three-year course for Advanced Jazz at the Adria Conservatory (Rome)
where she graduated with honours.
In this environment, she had the chance to venture towards the so-called European jazz, discovering the works of Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor and other contemporary musicians. She also had the chance to further her improvisation techniques, about which she was so enthusiastic during her various courses of study.
Her passion for improvisation and musical research has also pushed her to work with
the Further Specialisation Laboratory in Siena, with the pianist Stefano Battaglia.
She has also studied at the University of Further Musical Education (HMTM) in Hanover
(Germany), where she performed with Romy Cameroon, Andreas Barkhoff, Simon Nabatov, Herbert Hellhund, Ulli Bartel, Britta Rex and where she took composition workshops and a cappella singing.
Her curiosity for different musical languages led her to expand into other areas.
In addition to her jazz commitments, she also works as a soloist in the “Aurea Luce” vocal group, that specialises in Gregorian chants.
Along with the Dissonance Duo, she works on the “Todo Buenos Aires” project, rediscovering the music of Argentine Tango.
She also collaborates with the contemporary music ensemble: Arsenale, with which she participated
at the 2010 Music Biennial in Venice and at the prestigious international exhibition “Incontri Asolani” at Asolo in 2011.
She has lived in Berlin since 2013, where she has collaborated with musicians on the jazz and experimental Berlin scene, as well as leading Italian projects.
